Wool processing

Get Bentz wool mill specializes in artisan small batch milling, with an emphasis on woolen products.  Our mini mill equipment is able to process large quantities of  wool, or a single fleece.  Our mill offers custom carding, roving, and core spun rug yarn.  

Wool processing price list

Skirting $30 an hour
Skirting is dirty hard work, please ensure your fleeces are well skirted and free of large amounts of VM. Fleeces will be run through the tumbler to decrease the amount of VM in your end product but please take the time to well skirt your fleece.

Fiber Washing $9 per lb
Washing is based on incoming weight prior to additional processing. All fleeces are given two washes and two rinses. If the fleece needs additional washing we will charge an additional $2 per lb per wash until the fleece is clean. If you only want us to wash the fiber, we will wash and pick it for an extra $2 a lb. ​

If you send very dirty wool or fiber it can be rejected or an additional $50 fee will be added to clean the equipment after processing. Please ensure you send quality fleece.

Picked only (picked cloud) $9.50 lb
Once the fiber is washed, we will run it through the picker to open up the fibers.

Picking, carding into roving, batting, cloud $18 per lb
Once the fiber is washed we will pick it and card it into roving, cloud or batting. If you would like your roving in weighted bumps or balls there will be an additional charge of $2 per lb.

Spinning Rug Yarn $20 per lb
Washed, picked, carded and spun into a rug yarn.

Blending of two fibers $3 per lb
Washed, blended during picking and carding.

Wool Processing Form

Follow this link to our form.  All wool processing requires a $50 deposit due when fiber is received and based on wool weight.  Don't wait to get on the list, slots will fill up fast.  Due to increasing costs of supplies I had to raise my prices on some items, please be aware.
