Bundle Dyeing on Silk Scarves- 10/22 1-4pm
Silk is a beautiful and rich canvas for floral dyeing. Join Trinity of Petal and Hank in a hands-on workshop. Together we will appreciate the colorful potential of locally grown dye flowers and foraged berries applied to silk. The flowers used in the class have been grown in the dye garden at Get Bentz Farm. The color palette options will be enhanced by the addition of locally foraged dye-rich berries.
While the bundles steam, we will enjoy light refreshments, talk about preparing silk for dyeing, view samples of other silk dyeing techniques, and discuss the wide range of dye sources available locally. The class location will be weather dependent, occurring either on the picturesque grounds of the Get Betz Farm or in the beautiful and spacious heated barn at Nash Lake Fiber Farm. At either location, you will be in the company of happy, heritage-breed sheep.
No experience is necessary. Beginning and experienced dyers alike are welcome in this class. The registration fee for this small group, shared experience is all-inclusive. Each student will dye a high-quality habotai silk scarf measuring 14 inches wide by 72 inches long.
