A Shepherd's share- July box
The breezy warm long summer days remind us of swimming in lakes, fireworks, and enjoying cold ice cream treats. When walking the pastures in July you will find sheep snoozing under the shade of a tree, sleeping off the heat of the day. In the evening and early morning the sheep can be found grazing, filling their bellies for the midday snooze or evening rest. As shepherds, our day is somewhat similar. We wake in the early morning to check the sheep and finish chores before the heat of the day comes. In midday, we retire to work inside, and return to our flock in the evening.
Our July shepherd’s share box invokes all the wonders of summer, from the pure white of the Clun Forest roving which signifies the clean fleeces of summer sheep, to the naturally dyed roving which reminds us of rainbow sorbet, fireworks, and the milk left in cereal bowls. This month's naturally dyed roving is Shetland wool, dyed with indigo, Madder root, onion skins, and Marigolds. We picked and processed the dyed locks to create this amazing blend of colors, giving it depth, and ensuring a really fun spin. The two rovings together would create a lovely set of mittens, or a bright hat, or just hang on the wall to remind you of July in the middle of January.
Each box contains 3oz of white Clun Forest, and 3oz of naturally dyed Shetland.
